Road Trip - Day 16 - Tallahassee - Fort Myers, FL

Day 16 - January 16th, 2014.
Florida: Tallahassee - Fort Myers

An uneventful journey down the highway from Tallahassee to Fort Myers - where our friends have a home and where we shall be staying until Tuesday.

We kept hoping that the temperature would rise - and it did, though not as high as we had hoped!

Hwy 90 looked like it would have been a more scenic route, but we wanted to get to our destination as quickly as we could so that we could spend some time with our friends before hosting the weekly conference call with our team. (Amazingly - our team has grown significantly while we have been on our road trip - and last week, we had our best week's income from our company - all while on vacation!)  We did see a couple of interesting bridges across various Gulf inlets and bays.

Vera's daughter bought this beautiful house in a gated community last March, and Vera is down here for three months.

Better than any hotel!
Her friend, Sylvia, has joined her for 5 weeks, Sylvia lives in Calgary and we have stayed with her there a couple of times over the last few years. We're heading back there on another road trip in July/August. It's great to see them again and to be able to spend some quality time with them. (Another great thing about retirement - you get to choose the 'when' as well as the 'how').
Three 'not-so-wise' monkeys!

Although the weather is not as warm as we had expected, the heated pool in the back yard was excellent and we spent about 45 minutes just chilling out and sharing funny stories and memories.

A quick run inside to the shower, followed by a lovely meal with a glass of red wine, and we were set for the evening.

We are determined to wear shorts on this road trip - even if our knees freeze!!

Athletes love this!

Happy, Fit, & Free !
