Evening Skies, a Chorus, and other delights

Evening Skies, a Chorus, and other delights

One of the  benefits of living in Northern Ontario is the proximity of nature - just minutes out of the Elliot Lake.
This evening, we took a short, 15-minute ride, north of the town, with the purpose of seeing some wildlife. However, the evening skies were resplendent - especially when we were able to capture them reflected in bodies of water.
Here are some of the shots we took.

Horne Lake here, in town. We love the Gloaming time of day

Reflections are more defined when the water is still

Rooster Rock

We were also lucky to see a couple of different birds - one that we had not yet captured.

3 Mallards, just taking a stroll

We watched this Spotted Sandpiper for several minutes before he flew off

Mark captured this unusual view of a robin

At first, we thought this was a woodpecker, but we discovered it is a Northern Flicker

Mark took these interesting shots of the ripples on the surface of a lake.

The sound of these frogs, and other critters, can often be heard echoing through the forest, especially at dusk. It's like an evening chorus.

No matter what we see, we are always grateful to be living in an area where we have access to such immediate beauty.

  1. Beautiful, my dear friends! I'm envious, as I could EASILY live in Elliot Lake. The bird photos in particular are truly STUNNING!! ALL the photos are! You have a great eye for beauty, and obviously a wonderful camera to accommodate it. Love you both and miss you both so much, and hope your travels soon take you to this lovely area called "MIDHURST"!! xoxoxo Aaron sends licks and paws and misses his 2 uncles ever so much
